Thank you all VERY VERY much for your lovely comments. Because many people have asked me the same questions I decided to post this mini blog with the answers rather than to write the same things over and over. But 1st of all I have to say that everything I have know I have learned from the internet therefore I hink that the best way to teach you is to give you the links that helped me.
So, the most often repeated question - what material I use for my works.
It is cold porcelain. All the flowers were made with different recepies just because I don't feel like a have found THE RIGH RECIPE yet and so I try a new recipe every time I make a new batch of porcelain. I'll give you the recipe I made last, turned out very good (the orange rose on my pics is made using this dough) however I am still looking for a better recipe
3/4 cup white glue
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon cold cream (such as Pond's)
1 teaspoon glycerin
1 cup cornstarch, plus additional for dusting your hands
This recipe was taken from
http://tissuepapers.pnn.com/8315-section-2, and there’s a full description with pictures as to how exactly make it. But there are lots of other recipes on the net that are just as nice.
Second question - how did I do it.
1. “Closed” Rose (on my pictures these are red and pinkish purple colours)
This is the link of a very nice tutorial
http://rubina-geminiartandcrafts.blogspot.com/2009/06/cold-porcelain-red-rose-tutorial.html
where is described the exact process of making the roses, also with pictures. I make my roses in exactly the same way with the only difference that I make the middle of my roses more like a fat drop rather than a carrot like on the pictures. This way it takes more petals to complete a rose (around 17 - 23 for a medium rose) because they don’t go all the way around the centre. And also the material shown n the website doesn’t look like my batches of porcelain...
2. “Open” Rose (on my pics this one is scarlet-orange colour)
Here’s a link
http://formacion.lydia.es/viewtopic.php?t=54 where I learned to make this kind of roses.
I hope this helped and if you have any more questions I’ll be happy to reply
Good luck,
Natalia
