hobby arts and crafts creative inspiration

These are just some basic etched glass mugs that I have done with some of the equipment that I use. If your interested about how to do it let me know.

Everyone let me know soon about what a cool idea for me to etch would be. Anything would be cool. I'll do it on scrap glass for the example.

Hi Eric, brilliant, I'm sure members will have a request or two. I'm having a 'girlie' moment and rather like your flower design here: Glass Etching Flower Design but really don't mind if you do whatever you want to do. Looking forward to it. thanks

photos: preferably not upload at the moment, the platform technical team haven't got back to me yet and it's not working properly. You can link to any of your pictures like I've done above for people to view if that helps.

Hey I would like to get the etching done tommarow for people wanting to know more about it. Does anyone have a particular pattern that they want me to do? I have plenty of patterns and you can see some at the glass etching patterns page. I have alot of christmas ones too but I thought it would be cool to show an etching with a pattern someone likes. It could even include a phrase or name, because I will be doing it on scrap glass.

Diane, can we upload photos now? I'd like to put a few up for it. Let me know.

yeah, I guess it still gives you an idea of the basic steps. After I etched the glass and viewed the video, I was kinda disappointed. Thats what happens when you do it yourself and use a cheap camera.

A little while back I saw a few people etching car windows and figured it might be a good business idea. Since alot of people today are getting tattoos, I figured that people might think getting their car glass tattooed would be cool. Customization is becoming popular in today's society. So I thought it would be a cool idea to have a car glass shop that also did "Glass Tattooing". The only problem with this idea is people sell their cars often (you know go from one car to another) and the buyer might not want to buy it because of the etching. Anyone feel free to use this idea, but I don't know if it will be successful or not. Its just an idea that I haven't tried yet.

I see what you mean Eric about the sun glaring - However, it's still a good video and you can see how the wording has come out, if not the picture above so clearly.

Still getting visions of you turning us into etching monsters with our cars suitably etched! haha

Julie, I have thought about etching a vase. I bought one to etch on and give it as a gift, but never got around to it. I have done photo frames and is a cool way because you can add a color background which makes the frosted etching pop out better.

Thanks Murtuza and rachanasudharshan, those etchings are actually very basic samples and there really very easy to do. So there really isn't that much technique to them but when you do add a little technique they comeout amazing. This is by using techniques called sandcarving and shading which requires a sandblaster.

lol the video really is terrible. I filmed it by myself and the sun was very strong. Its also very basic and doesn't show any real technique to be used. It was just an example of me etching a logo on my trucks glass. If you really want to see it, you can go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Unkkktc5IZw

Beautiful etching. I have tried some basics with a paste available in India, but would love to learn the techniques from you. Please post the video....
