Hello friends , I am back with my nearly dried roses but now they are not shiny as before. Does CP lose its sheen after drying or have I failed to get the right proportion ? The work has to painted with varnish I believe . Suggestions please !

Hello Anita.
Congratulations, your roses look great.

Once you have completed your display and it is set and dry finish off with a coat, or two, of Gloss Craft varnish. Also a good finish is the PVA glue first and then Gloss Varnish.
Cheers
Katy

I use baby oil or vaseline with my recipe and when I'm making flowers or leaves and want them to have a sheen, I mix Winston/Newton oil based paint which also has a bit of a sheen. I use either matt or shiney spray after I'm finished with the project to keep the creation of fazing.
When I'm kneading the CP after cooking, I put vaseline on my hands which gets transferred to the mixture. It appears that your color might be acrylic?

Hello! The cold porcelain clay will usually dry a matte color, unless your clay recipe contains some form of stearic acid (candle wax), which gives the finished pieces a wax like shine.
However, for roses and other dried pieces, the best way to achieve a "shiny" look is to use a spray either glossy or satin depends on the effect desired. Great Work!

If you want to make it shine, apply varnish.
